Recommendation for Soudan III test + Calprotectin-IBS/IBD
I. Recommendations for Stool Culture for Fungi:
- 3 days before you start collecting stool: Avoid taking Roquefort and Gorgonzola or any other kinds of blue cheese or fermented cheese
II. Recommendations for Sudan III:
The fecal fat test checks for an excess amount of fat in the stool, which
can indicate a problem with food digestion and absorption. Typically,
your diet for 2 to 3 days before the test and while collecting the stool
samples needs to include a specified amount of fat (50g-100g per day) – but certain types of
fats should be avoided.
- Avoid: butter, oil salad, whole grains, fermented cheese (French cheese, Roquefort cheese), low-calorie mayonnaise, bran
- Likewise, it’s recommended NOT to ingest castor oil and mineral oil
before or during the test since it contains a high amount of dietary fiber can interfere
with the test.
