Spot Urine Specimens Conditions:
Urine specimen should consist of a single, early-morning, midstream sample, collected in a given sterile cup(100 ml) after washing with soap and drinking water, drying and cleaning with disinfectants.
Urine sample contaminated with menstrual blood should be discouraged
Male patients having spermogram in addition to urine test should give the urine before the semen.
Urine sample from outside the laboratory should be refrigerated during the period of collection to prevent microbiologic growth and chemical changes and should be preserved during transportation to ensure valid results.
