Conditions for Sputum Sample Collection:
- Submit early morning deep-cough specimen prior to the ingestion of
any food.
- The patient should take at least three deep breaths, then force out a deep cough.
- Have the patient rinse his/her mouth with drinking water first.
- Send specimens fresh as soon as possible to the laboratory.
